What happens when you refuse to play by the rules?

As part of Rebel Moves, Bath Film Festival's celebration of young people in sport who challenge expectations, Polite Society is a riotous blend of action, comedy and coming-of-age storytelling from writer-director Nida Manzoor.

Ria Khan dreams of becoming a stuntwoman. When her older sister's whirlwind romance threatens to derail everything, Ria launches an increasingly outrageous mission to stop the wedding. Bursting with inventive fight scenes, sharp humour and plenty of heart, Polite Society is a joyful celebration of sisterhood, ambition and doing things your own way.

Before the film, enjoy a live martial arts demonstration from a local martial arts club, showcasing the skill, discipline and athleticism behind the action on screen. They'll also introduce the film, exploring how martial arts helps build confidence, resilience and community.

This event forms part of BFI's Rip It Up season, celebrating the changing face of youth rebellion, culture and expression on screen across the UK.
