This is an exceptional collaboration between violinist Viviane Hagner, pianist Till Fellner – another remarkable protégé of Alfred Brendel – and cellist Adrian Brendel. All three musicians are sought-after for appearances with major orchestras and at the world’s greatest festivals. They will appear together at this year’s Schubertiade in Austria. Tonight’s programme includes two works by Schubert alongside Liszt’s Symphonic Poem No 4, Orpheus, arranged by Saint-Saëns who described the work - which celebrates the civilising power of art - as “woven of sunbeams and starlight”.
