Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway is transported to contemporary Lagos in this beautiful, richly layered reimagining starring Sophie Okonedo, David Oyelowo and Ayo Edebiri.

Clarissa (Okonedo) is preparing to host an elaborate party at her home when the return of people she once loved draws her back into memories of her youth. Moving between past and present, old friendships, romantic possibilities and the choices that shaped their lives gradually come back into focus.

Twin filmmakers Arie and Chuko Esiri take Woolf’s story of memory, time, class and paths not taken and give it a vivid new setting in Nigeria. Sophie Okonedo leads an exceptional cast, alongside David Oyelowo, Ayo Edebiri, Nikki Amuka-Bird, India Amarteifio and Toheeb Jimoh.

Clarissa is elegant, intimate and quietly devastating, exploring the lives we choose, the ones we leave behind and the people we might never quite stop loving.
