In February 2022 young couple Olya and Taras are enjoying life together in their new apartment in a high rise building near Kyiv. The threat of Russian troops invading is in everyone’s minds, but nobody can quite believe it will happen, so they don’t choose to leave. However, they wake up to explosions and Russian troops have indeed descended right outside their building. They are trapped, scared to leave, unsure what to do. They must figure out what’s happening right outside without any communication with the outside world, the only things they are aware of are the sounds they can hear. They have no idea what to do, except gather the necessary things they need for survival - food, water, comfort - and their primary concern is to keep their presence a secret from the Russian troops who occasionally scour the building.

Tense, and completely captivating, Honeymoon is a deeply personal journey of one Ukrainian couple living through terror, whilst supporting each other.

This film will be introduced by curator and local filmmaker Anna Nekrasova.
