Derek v Derek

Bath Film Festival presents a special screening of Derek v Derek, a funny, thought-provoking and surprisingly moving documentary about a dispute between two Devon farmers that opens up one of the biggest debates facing rural Britain today.

One Derek believes in intensive farming and food production. The other has dedicated his land to rewilding, creating a haven for wildlife and restoring species once lost from the British landscape. As wild animals escape, boundaries are tested and frustrations grow, the film explores the tensions, challenges and opportunities at the heart of modern farming.

Set against the backdrop of the changing English countryside, Derek v Derek tackles urgent questions about food, nature, land use and who gets to shape the future of our rural landscapes, all through the lens of a deeply personal neighbourly feud.

The screening will take place at Jamie's Farm and will be preceded by a short film showcasing the charity's inspiring work supporting young people through farming, food and nature.

Following the film, we'll be joined by filmmakers Nicola Brown and James Dawson, alongside Jamie Feilden, Founder and Co-CEO of Jamie's Farm and a local farmer Bob Honey, for a live Q&A exploring the making of the film, regenerative farming, rural communities, and how young people can reconnect with the natural world through farming and nature.
