Programme includes:
o One Week (1920)
Written and directed by and starring Buster Keaton (20 mins)
A newly-married couple build their first home from a DIY flat-pack – what could possibly go wrong? Full of spectacular sight-gags, the best of Keaton’s superb physical comedy. Incredible special effects, almost all of them filmed for real.
o Sherlock Junior (1924)
Directed by and starring Buster Keaton (45 mins)
A cinema projectionist has ambitions to be a private detective. Falling asleep in the operating box, he dreams that he becomes “Sherlock Junior, the great detective. Fascinating behind-the-scenes look at a typical small-town cinema in the early 1920s.
o Frankenstein (1910) J. Searle Dawley/Edison Studios (12 mins)
The first screen adaptation of Mary Shelley’s novel, notable for its special effects and use of colour filters.
