Screening of 'Planet Israel'

When Hamas erupted from Gaza on October 7 2023, the world was shocked, and sympathetic to Israel. However, within a few months most of that sympathy had gone as the world recoiled in horror at the savagery of the Israeli response – though few Israeli Jews seemed to notice anything untoward. 

As a British-American Jew, the multi-award-winning documentary maker Gillian Mosely wanted to know what had happened to make Jews, a people who had experienced oppression, othering and genocide, so morally numb that in Israel 73 per cent of those polled supported the way their country waged war in Gaza. 

More widely, she wondered, what causes the moral disengagement that allows atrocities the world over?
